Cast Perspex acrylic discs offer the best optical clarity of clear plastic discs and are often the material of choice of display products which require machining and the best quality. This process results in a clear acrylic with a highly consistent mechanical structure, a very hard surface and fantastic thermal stability. All of these qualities make is a highly versatile material suited to both indoor and outdoor applications where it offers the superb optical clarity expected of clear acrylic coupled with high strength and impact resistance. Furthermore, Cast Acrylic discs are ideal for use in complex machining processes and they can be easily and economically fabricated to suit a huge range of requirements. It should be noted, however, that the casting process makes the sheet less uniform in thickness than extruded acrylic, with a maximum variation of +/-10%. Acrylic discs, also known by the trademarks of Perspex or Plexiglass, are a terrific alternative to glass wherever strong, lightweight and shatterproof materials are required. Admitting as much as 92% of light, Cast Acrylic remains perfectly clear even when made as much as 33cm thick – displaying far greater transparency than glass. Celebrated for their aesthetic, Cast Acrylic discs are suitable for edge polishing and will not yellow, fog or discolour through exposure to UV light, in fact the level of light transmission will remain for as much as 30 years.
